On the morning of Sunday, May 18, ArcelorMittal Tuper held the second edition of its internal run and walk event. The activity gathered employees and their families, who completed a five-kilometer course set up on the company premises, located in the Brasília neighborhood of São Bento do Sul (SC – Brazil).
This year, with around 200 registered participants, the event began at 8 a.m. with opening remarks and a warm-up session. Soon after, the participants followed a route along the side of the industrial complex to complete the course.
The initiative is part of the Health in Focus program, which aims to encourage healthy habits and promote well-being.
Among participants of all ages, the enthusiasm of over twenty children in the youth category stood out during the walk. The little ones were especially curious to explore the environment that, for many, is where their parents work.
Part of the route went through the interior of the industrial complex.
New management present
As the first official public event following the company’s acquisition by ArcelorMittal, the unit’s new CEO, Sandro Sambaqui—who also oversees the São Francisco do Sul (SC) and Contagem (MG) units—was in attendance. On the occasion, he stated that initiatives like this one, involving employees and their families, will continue and be highly valued. These actions are in line with the multinational’s corporate policy. “I see many children here, and that’s a great sign. […] Arcelor is a company with strong human values. It’s present worldwide, but always with a focus on people”, he said.
Participation recognized
At the end of the event, all participants received medals. In addition, the top finishers received trophies and gifts. In the men’s category, the winner was Geison Rodrigo Kachan, while Jocélia Satitsky de Souza took first place in the women’s category. There was also a collection of non-perishable food items, which will be donated at a later date.
The day was filled with positive energy, emotion, and movement!
